Fun Things to Do This Weekend in Portland

 

There’s so much to do in this city, so why not try something new? From film viewings to catching a Blazers game, there are plenty of events to keep you busy this weekend. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Friday
On Friday, April 22, you can head over to Revolution Hall for The KEEN International Ocean Film Tour. This all-ages event is featuring 120 minutes of documentary footage and some of the most inspiring stories from the seven seas. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here. Doors open at 7 pm and the movie start time is 8 pm. Revolution Hall is located at 1300 SE Stark Street.

Saturday
It’s game three and your Blazers will be playing the Clippers at 7:30 pm PST. Even if you didn’t have a chance to score tickets, there will be plenty of bars and venues with the game on. The Goodfoot Lounge (SE 29th & Stark), East Burn (East Burnside & 18th), and Aladdin Theater (3017 SE Milwaukie Ave) are all hosting viewing parties with happy hour specials.

Sunday
Make your way this Sunday, April 24 to the Portland Flea & Food event taking place at the corner of SE 6th and SE Salmon. From 11 am to 4 pm, you can browse through a variety of local goods, crafts, furniture, decor, and produce. This is a free event and open to all ages so bring the family!

What’s Happening in Your Neighborhood

MLK Day of Service in Portland

For some, Martin Luther King, Jr. day is a day off, a chance to sleep in, or an opportunity to catch up on your latest show. Why not change it up this year and do something that will truly honor the civil rights leader? MLK is a Day of Service and through the Human Rights Campaign, you can help out the Q Center and New Avenues for Youth to contribute to service projects that benefit homeless and at-risk youth in the community. There are several ways you can help:

 

Donate
By January 17, you can donate much-needed items like toiletries, sleeping bags, backpacks, flashlights, and clothing. For a full list of items, including drop-off locations and hours, click here.

 

Volunteer
On January 18, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, you can volunteer to help assemble donated items into care packages. This event will be held at New Avenues for Youth located at 1220 SW Columbia Street.
